She understands that her sound doesn’t mirror what’s expected—and she’s made peace with that. “Not every page, artist, or average consumer would even consider me a true DMV artist due to my sound being unorthodox,” she admits. Rather than forcing herself into a box, XLOVCLO has chosen to exist outside of it.
A Childhood Rooted in Encouragement, Not Limitation
XLOVCLO’s relationship with music began early, nurtured by parents who believed in curiosity before credentials. Guitars filled her childhood home, not as pressure points but as invitations to explore. Music was something to feel before it was something to perfect.
That relationship shifted when pop culture intervened. Watching Michael Jackson didn’t just inspire her—it gave her purpose. “The way his music made me feel was something I could never explain,” she says. “I wanted to be able to do the same for my generation.” From that moment on, music stopped being optional.
Influences That Span Generations, Not Trends
Her sound reflects a wide range of inspirations—Michael and Janet Jackson’s timeless presence, Kehlani’s emotional transparency, Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber’s melodic instincts. Still, XLOVCLO never sounds like a product of imitation. Her work feels filtered through lived experience rather than reference points.
She approaches music as expression, not replication. “I try to tell the truth and articulate my feelings and perceptions of the world through melodic anecdotes and bittersweet hymns,” she explains. That honesty is what anchors her approach, allowing her music to remain grounded even as it resists classification.
4 Christmas as a Gift, Not a Strategy
That intention is most evident in her latest release, 4 Christmas. Instead of approaching the project as a seasonal opportunity, XLOVCLO treated it as an offering. “I wanted to drop something that people could enjoy and listen to with their loved ones for the holidays,” she says. “I wanted to give my fans and supporters something for the holidays, as a thank you for sticking beside me and believing in me from day one.”
The result is music that feels warm and sincere—designed to exist in shared spaces rather than streaming dashboards.
Building From Home, Owning Every Layer
One of the most surprising aspects of XLOVCLO’s artistry is how much of it she handles herself. “I create the majority of my music from my own home studio and mix and master the majority of my work by myself,” she reveals. “I am very independent.”
That independence shapes her creative process. Despite her consistency, XLOVCLO has faced the familiar challenge of being overlooked in her own region. “One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced was being overlooked by my fellow DMV musicians,” she shares. For an artist whose sound doesn’t align neatly with the region’s dominant narrative, recognition hasn’t always come easily.
Still, she refuses to compromise. Instead of reshaping her art to fit expectations, she’s reshaping the conversation—proving that the. DMV identity can be expansive rather than restrictive.
Storytelling as the Bridge to Community
XLOVCLO’s connection to her listeners is built on sincerity. Her music resonates with those who value vulnerability and reflection. “My music connects with the culture and people who listen to me through storytelling,” she explains. That storytelling is influenced not only by music, but by music theory, jazz, renaissance art, and contemporary art, all of which subtly inform her approach.
Her work feels intentional, layered, and lived-in—designed to last beyond a single moment.
What’s Next: Growth, Reach, and Real Connection
Looking ahead, XLOVCLO is preparing to release a new project at the top of next year, timed with her birthday—a milestone that reflects both patience and growth. Her goals extend beyond release schedules. “I simply wish to reach more ears and eventually tour and get to interact with my fans on a more personal level,” she says.
And for new listeners discovering her for the first time, her message lands with clarity and grace: “No matter where or how far you are in your journey, you have put in an immense amount of effort to be where you are today. Continue to work, continue to create, and continue to chase your dreams. You only live once. Time may be limited but your legacy is infinite.”
